Contest: Granular structure of matter – from Democritus to Smoluchowski

Prof. Stanisław Tabisz, the rector of the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków, and prof. Wojciech Nowak, the rector of the Jagiellonian University, extend their auspices over the contest for a work of fine arts titled Granular structure of matter – from Democritus to Smoluchowski (painting, sculpture, or graphics).

The main organizer if the contest is the Faculty of Physics, Astronomy and Applied Information Science of Jagiellonian University. The aim of the contest to encourage young people to create works of art inspired by research in natural science and especially by the works of Marian Smoluchowski, and to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the prominent Polish physicist's death.

The contest is held in two categories: amateurs and professionals. The students of high schools (including art high schools) and the students of non-art colleges, academias, and universities can take part in the former category. Students and graduates of fine arts colleges and academias can take part in the latter category.
