On 19 April 2016 The president of the Conference of Rectors of Academic Schools in Poland prof. Wiesław Banyś, the rector of the University of Silesia, sent a letter to the Marshal of Sejm of the Republic of Poland including the resolution concerning the announcement of Marian Smoluchowski Year by the Sejm.
