The request for establishing Marian Smoluchowski Year

The Polish Physical Society issued a request to the Parliament of the Republic of Poland concerning announcing the year 2017 as Marian Smoluchowski Year (to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the physicist’s birth). The request was issued on September 6, 2015 by the delegates of the Polish Physical Society during the 13th Convention of Polish Physicists in Kielce. The Board of the Society appointed the Committee for Marian Smoluchowski Year, which comprises 16 distinguished Polish physicists from academic centers in Gdańsk, Katowice, Kraków, Lublin, Łódź, Poznań, Toruń, Warsaw, and Wrocław. The Committee appointed professor Wiesław Andrzej Kamiński for its president.
