of the Polish Physical Society awardsfor outstanding Physics teachers

§ 1.

The Polish Physical Society awards for outstanding Physics teachers are awarded annually. The purpose of this award is to raise the level of education of Physics in all types of schools.

§ 2.

The PPS awards for outstanding Physics teachers can be graded. The I degree PPS award for outstanding Physics teachers is named after Grzegorz Białkowski. 

§ 3.

The PPS awards for Physics teachers take the form of financial rewards  and distinctions. The distinguished teachers receive diplomas. The awarded teachers receive diplomas and financial rewards and the winner of the I degree PPS award additionally receives the Medal of Grzegorz Białkowski (since 2005). 

The amount of the PPS financials awards is fixed by the Main Board. The amount of the prize fund for the awards for Physics teachers is fixed by the Main Board in their subsequent year's estimates.

§ 4.

The award will be granted by the PPS Awards and Distinctions Committee appointed by the Main Board of the Society for the Board’s cadence. The decisions of the Committee are approved by the PPS Main Board Presidium.

§ 5.

The candidates for the PPS awards for outstanding Physics teachers can be nominated by all PPS members, PPS Branches and the Central Committee of the Physics Olympiad in consultation with the District Committees. The PPS members propose candidates with a comprehensive justification and an indication of didactic achievements (outstanding results in teaching Physics at school, writing textbooks methodological materials, etc.) to the PPS Boards of Branches. The Boards of Branches forward the submitted nominations, with their own opinion, to the PPS Main Board. Other people, entitled to it, submit their proposals with justifications directly to the PPS Main Board.

§ 6.

The PPS award for outstanding Physics teachers will be presented in a solemn manner. In the years when the Congress of Polish Physicists is held, it will be awarded during the Congress and during the plenary meeting of the PPS Main Board in other years.

§ 7.

The names of the winners will be annually announced in Postępy Fizyki and Fizyka w Szkole.

§ 8.

The nominations for the PPS awards for teachers can be submitted to the PPS Main Board at any time, which passes them to the PPS Teaching Awards Committee for consideration. The deadline for applications for the calendar year expires on 30th June of this year.

§ 9.

The Board of the PPS Branch, from which activity area the rewarded or distinguished Physics teacher comes from, is obliged to inform the authorities granting qualifying stages to teachers from this area about the Award. The notification should also include a request to take the fact of granting the PPS Award for outstanding Physics teachers into account during a recruitment process. 

§ 10.

These Rules come into force on the date of the adopting of a resolution in this case by the PPS MB Meeting on 22nd March 1993 (with changes from 5th July 2005).
